Facts on how dirty gas-powered lawn equipment is:

1) The EPA estimates 5-10% of our nation’s air pollution comes from gas-powered lawn equipment.
2) Using a gas lawnmower for one-hour contributes 93 times more smog forming emissions than 2006 model cars.
3) One hour mowing emits as much air pollution as driving a car 20 miles.
4) More gas is spilled during refueling each year than was spilled in the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
5) Gas mowers run at 100 decibels, anything over 90 causes hearing damage.

Oil Dependence

The Green Side is proud to be doing its part, however small, in decreasing this country’s dependence on oil. TGS accomplishes this by using hand and battery-powered lawn equipment. The Gulf oil spill is a tragedy and a sad reminder on how oil can be destructive to our environment. We need to continue to push towards utilizing more renewable energy, and being more aware on how we function in everyday life.
